Daiwa-ICP welcomes Partners Group

PARTNERS GROUP JOINS DAIWA-ICP AS A STRATEGIC INVESTOR IN BLUE PHOENIX GROUP

November 11, 2022, London. Partners Group, acting on behalf of its clients, has signed a definitive agreement with Daiwa International Capital Partners (“Daiwa-ICP”) to become a strategic investor in Blue Phoenix Group (“BPG”) via an investment in Daiwa ICP European Infrastructure 1, L.P. (“Daiwa ICP European Infrastructure 1”). The transaction signed on 10 November 2022 and is expected to complete in due course subject to obtaining applicable merger control approvals.

Blue Phoenix Group operates incinerator bottom ash (“IBA”) processing installations globally and helps the Energy-from-Waste sector with alternative sustainable solutions for ash residues. The company's principal activity is to treat IBA and recycle it into marketable mineral aggregates, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, preventing landfill disposal. IBA processing represents a critical element of the energy from waste value chain, completing the circular economy.

An innovative extension secondary structure allows Daiwa-ICP to continue supporting BPG in its next phase of growth, while providing it with additional firepower to continue its strategy of sourcing off-market infrastructure opportunities that offer strong potential for growth and value accretion.

Dr. Dmitriy Antropov, Managing Director, Co-Head Private Infrastructure Integrated Investments at Partners Group, said: “Extension secondaries represent an important pillar of our differentiated approach of making strategic investments in next generation infrastructure, while applying an owner's mindset to our integrated portfolio. We are pleased to establish a partnership with Daiwa-ICP to provide our clients with an attractive exposure to a leading circular economy asset and cementing our position as a flexible infrastructure capital provider.”

Gregor Jackson, CEO of Daiwa-ICP, stated: "We are excited to be entering into a partnership with Partners Group to continue the successful expansion of our platform. This is a significant achievement reflecting the calibre, experience and industry knowledge of the team.”

Sergio Ronga, CIO of Daiwa-ICP, added: “This investment by Partners Group underlines our philosophy of dedication to excellence and long-term partnerships with investors and stakeholders. We continue to see significant opportunity to invest and remain focused on identifying proprietary investment opportunities through our own network to deliver long-term value for our investors.”

Daiwa-ICP was advised by Shearman & Sterling (Legal adviser) and Astrid Advisors (Placement agent).

Partners Group was advised by Ropes & Gray (Legal adviser).
