REKO

REKO is the market leader in the European treatment and recycling of tar-containing asphalt.

In July 2024 Daiwa-ICP’s portfolio company, Blue Phoenix Group, agreed to acquire Recycling Kombinatie B.V. (”Reko”) from Wivabe Holding B.V.

Recycling Kombinatie, founded in 2006 in the Netherlands, is a mineral waste recycler producing high-quality building materials such as sand, gravel, filler and energy by cleaning tar-containing asphalt and other mineral waste, historically used in road construction. REKO has developed a unique thermal process which starts with recovered tar-containing asphalt and finishes with clean recycled aggregates.

REKO contributes to the circular economy by supporting the ongoing recovery and repurposing of materials:

Investment Highlights

European market leader in tar-containing material recycling

Dedicated management team with decades of experience in waste management business

Significant barriers to entry because of sizeable capex requirements and difficult to replicate business operations

Favourable legislation supporting circular economy and recycling whilst restricting landfill disposal
